Countywide : Children Can Get Fingerprinted
- Share via
Children can have their fingerprints recorded and learn about personal safety at malls throughout the county this week in an effort to combat the problem of missing children.
The weeklong program will include fingerprinting and lessons for young children on safety by representatives from local police departments at over 25 malls and shopping centers, coordinator, Mary Flynn said.
Parents can keep the original prints and if a child is missing police can use them during their investigations. The print card also includes a detailed description of the child. A consent form must be signed by parents so their child can participate.
The program will be conducted at the Buena Park Mall, Brea Mall, Anaheim Plaza, the City Shopping Center in Orange, Westminster Mall, South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island.
The program is being sponsored nationwide at about 3,500 malls by the national PTA, FBI and police organizations, Flynn said. For more information contact a mall or shopping center, she said.
