Arizona Suspends Rolf Jacobs, Cites Elbowing Incident

TUCSON, Ariz. — Reserve forward Rolf Jacobs has been suspended from the University of Arizona’s basketball team because of an elbowing incident in practice last week, Wildcats Coach Lute Olson said Sunday.
Jacobs, a 6-foot 7-inch junior from Fountain Valley High School, will have his situation reviewed by team coaches today before a decision on his future at the school is made, Olson said.
Olson said the suspension resulted from “an ongoing situation” that began last season when Jacobs, a former All-County player at Fountain Valley, broke the nose of starting guard Craig McMillan with an elbow during a practice session.
On Wednesday, Jacobs elbowed forward Anthony Cook in the head during drills.
“We’ve got a problem that doesn’t seem to be getting any better and I’d say it doesn’t look very positive for him being back,” Olson said.
