IC Industries set records for sales and income for the second quarter and first half of 1987. The Chicago-based company said net income was up 29.2%. Soft-drink operations, which include bottling of Pepsi-Cola and Dad’s Root Beer in parts of the country, had a record second quarter resulting from substantial increases in volumes for all products and lower variable costs. For the 12th consecutive quarter, Pet’s operating income increased and Midas increased its operating income despite a reduction in revenue. In railroad operations, revenue and earnings were reduced as a result of the downsizing program of the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.
