Referees and cornermen in New Jersey have begun wearing disposable rubber gloves during boxing matches at the request of the New Jersey Athletic Control Board, which cited sanitary and health reasons. State Athletic Commissioner Larry Hazzard reported that compliance has been 100%. The gloves help protect the people working the fight from the blood, sweat and saliva of the fighters.
