McInerney to Play Volleyball at SDSU

SAN DIEGO — Tony McInerney, a second-team junior All-American in volleyball from Honolulu, has signed a letter of intent to attend San Diego State.
McInerney, a 6-foot 2-inch setter, is the third San Diego State recruit to have played at Punahou High School in Honolulu.
Dave Portius attended Punahou, and Hugh Foster, the Southern Section 4-A player of the year romat Newport Harbor High School, transferred there from Punahou for his senior season.
McInerney recently was selected to the junior All-American team by the U.S. Volleyball Assn. after he helped the Outrigger Canoe Club of Honolulu finish fifth in the U.S. Junior Olympics in Albuquerque, N.M. He is competing this week in the U.S. Olympic Festival.
