Fire Guts Illinois Stable, Killing 25 Riding Horses

PRAIRIE VIEW, Ill. — Fire gutted a rural stable early Saturday, killing at least 25 riding horses, authorities said.
About 15 horses survived the 2:15 a.m. blaze that destroyed the Garvey Stables in Prairie View, about 20 miles northwest of Chicago. The blaze was battled by 10 suburban fire departments.
