2 Fishermen on Raft Are Saved Off Ensenada

A fishing boat Tuesday rescued two people who floated in a life raft off Ensenada for at least a day after an explosion on an anchovy-fishing vessel with nine people aboard.
Another fishing vessel picked up two bodies in the same area, leaving five people still missing, said Coast Guard Lt. Dennis Fahr. All aboard the capsized boat were Mexican citizens, he said.
Fahr said the Barda Dos fishing boat capsized Sunday, but authorities were unaware of the accident until a private plane spotted the survivors Tuesday in a raft six miles off Punta Colonet. Wilfred Graham, first officer in the Ensenada harbormaster’s office, said the survivors suffered burns and were in serious condition in an Ensenada hospital.
