Regarding the writer in American Demographics magazine who said the Weirton-Steubenville area had no ethnic restaurants (Restaurant Notebook, by Colman Andrews, Oct. 25), he must be confusing ethnic with trendy .

The Weirton-Steubenville area is largely made up of 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-generation Italians, Poles and Russians. As of last week, they still had many real family-type ethnic restaurants.

P.S.: Geography lesson--Weirton is in West Virginia, not Ohio.
