MSI Data Corp. Says Earnings Rose Fivefold

MSI Data Corp. reported a fivefold increase in earnings for its fiscal 1988 second quarter, to $1.2 million from the year-earlier $209,000.
Revenues for the Costa Mesa-based maker of portable data collection terminals rose 36%, to $22 million from $16.2 million.
Charles S. Strauch, president and chief executive, said the company’s results reflect improved profit margins on its products, better manufacturing efficiencies and cost-cutting programs begun several months ago.
