PCAA : Fresno Wears Down New Mexico State

Junior tailback Kelly Skipper scored two touchdowns Saturday as Fresno State beat New Mexico State, 34-10, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game at Las Cruces, N.M.
New Mexico State (2-9, 0-7) has won only two PCAA games in four seasons in the conference.
Skipper scored on a five-yard run in the second quarter and put the Bulldogs (6-5, 4-3) ahead to stay, 17-10, with a two-yard run in the third quarter.
Fresno State broke the game open in the fourth quarter on touchdown runs by reserve quarterback Eric Buechele and fullback Dean Collins, and a 25-yard field goal by Barry Belli. Belli also kicked a 34-yard field goal to tie the score, 10-10, with 10 seconds left in the half.
New Mexico State scored on Derrick Stinson’s 3-yard run with 1:26 left in the first half after Dat Ly kicked a 34-yard field goal.
New Mexico State freshman quarterback Mike Reneau completed just 16 of 46 passes and threw 2 interceptions.
Nevada Las Vegas 30, Pacific 24--Ickey Woods, the nation’s second-leading rusher behind Pittsburgh’s Craig Heyward, gained 265 yards in 37 carries, and Jim Cook kicked 47- and 50-yard field goals in the fourth quarter as the Rebels came from behind to win at Las Vegas.
It was Woods’ third straight 200-yard game.
Las Vegas is 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the PCAA. Pacific finishes at 4-7 and 3-4.
