Digital Equipment Corp. is expected to announce today products that will make it easier to connect its VAX computers with those from archrival International Business Machines Corp. Digital will also announce an updated release of Ultrix, its version of the Unix operating system. Industry analysts said the new VAX gear will permit Digital users to link their machines with computers based on System Network Architecture, IBM’s proprietary data communications standard. It will also permit VAX users to manage joint IBM-Digital networks.
