New York’s American Museum of Natural History has canceled its scheduled presentation of a documentary film about Qin Shihuang, the Chinese Emperor who 2,000 years ago built the Great Wall, because of the turmoil in China. The 40-minute film, “The First Emperor of China” was to have opened at the museum on July 8. Plans for a parade on that day in front of the museum--to have included a horse-drawn replica of a Chinese chariot, three groups of lion and dragon dancers, acrobats and musicians--have also been shelved. “The reason for the decision was the depth of feeling in the American Chinese community about the events going on there,” said Herbert Kurz, a museum spokesman. There are no plans to reschedule the film.
