As part of a nationwide centennial celebration of U.S. forestry, officials are offering free admission Saturday to the Crystal Lake Recreation Area, north of Azusa on state Route 39.
The Forest Service’s Mt. Baldy Ranger District is waiving its normal $8 fee for camping and $3 charge for parking at Crystal Lake. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis until the parking lot reaches its 400-vehicle capacity. The gate opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m.
The Forest Service will sponsor exhibits of old-style and modern firefighting equipment and will host day hikes and campfire programs.
More information is available from the Mt. Baldy district office at (818) 335-1251.
