Colleges : 16 L.B. City College Retirees Honored at Year-End Lunch

Sixteen Long Beach City College faculty and staff members who retired during the past year were honored recently at an end-of-the-year luncheon. The retirees were treated to lunch by the Faculty-Staff Assn. and received framed certificates from the college Board of Trustees.
Retiring were nine faculty members and seven other staffers. They represent a total of more than 300 years of service to the college, said Dr. Beverly O’Neill, superintendent-president.
Retirees include Les Harris, dean of vocational outreach; Dick Keyes, art department head; Dr. Michael Pappone, music instructor; Don Schmalzried, adviser to disabled students; Bill Seal, counselor; Dr. Mary Knox Weir, child development department head; Joyce Witscher, nursing instructor; Carolyn Williams, dietetics instructor; and Loraine Yocky, Spanish instructor.
Retiring from the support staff were secretaries Pat Brady and Bobbie Dollins; warehouse receiving clerk Bob Kelley; clerks Pat Harris, Bea O’Brien and Ruth Schultz; and instructional aide Vi Christian. Math instructor C.B. Overton died following his retirement during the past year.
