SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The search for an 11-year-old girl who apparently was kidnaped as she walked to her school bus stop concentrated Wednesday on a nearby area where officials said she may have been spotted.
El Dorado County Sheriff Don McDonald said a witness saw a car Tuesday matching the description of the kidnap vehicle in the Fallen Leaf area about three miles east of where Jaycee Lee Dugard was last seen.
The witness said a man and a woman were in the car--a two-tone gray 1980s model Mercury Zephyr--and a child with blond hair was asleep in the back. Jaycee is 4-feet, 6-inches with long blond hair.
A massive search was continuing in the Fallen Leaf area late Wednesday, Undersheriff Jim Roth said, and FBI agents and officers from California and Nevada were continuing door-to-door searches and traffic stops throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin.
