Children in Poverty: In an attempt to focus on the problem of U.S. children living in poverty, ABC’s “World News Tonight” will originate from Ohio tonight, Wednesday and Thursday. Peter Jennings and other correspondents will report on poverty-stricken youngsters in that heartland state. “When the Gulf War ended, we put stories on the air about the hardships facing the Kurdish people virtually every evening,” executive producer Paul Friedman said. “We want to cover endangered American children in the same way--as if it were a breaking news story.”
