United to Launch Brisbane Service: United Airlines said it will pioneer a route between Los Angeles and Brisbane in northern Australia next month. The new route is part of an overall acceleration of United’s South Pacific scheduled service. The new service will begin Aug. 8 westbound and Aug. 10 eastbound. Other major elements of the expanded South Pacific service will be new nonstop service between Los Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand, next month and a new mini-hub in Auckland.
