BERLIN — Authorities said Sunday they have arrested a Polish man after they found 11 pounds of radioactive material in the basement of a suburban apartment.
Uta Foelster, a spokeswoman for the Justice Ministry, identified the material as uranoxid. Experts say it is not suitable for making nuclear explosive devices.
Foelster said the material had been stored in a lead container and there was no threat to neighbors.
