PAT’S DAY: Former First Lady Pat Nixon turns 81 today, and the Nixon Library & Birthplace will celebrate with a cake in her honor, Irish dancers and free admission. Besides that, the first 50 visitors get a free copy of “Pat Nixon: The Untold Story,” by daughter Julie Nixon Eisenhower. She writes of her mother in that book: “The political road was not easy for one who had always valued her privacy and independence. . . . She cherishes the privacy of her retirement years.”
