Conagra to Close Plant, Lose 600 Jobs: The Conagra Frozen Foods plant, a major employer in Turlock, Calif., for 37 years, will close in July, throwing 600 people out of work, the company announced. The plant, which processes frozen dinners and entrees under the Banquet and Healthy Choice labels, is the victim of overcapacity, Conagra Vice President Gil Mulhere said. The Conagra board decided to close the Turlock plant because it is operating at less capacity, he said. The Turlock plant’s production will be shifted to plants in Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa and Virginia.
