American Mobile Systems Inc., a Woodland Hills operator of mobile-radio systems, said its board has decided to terminate any further talks on a merger, acquisition or other joint venture with Johnson Communications Corp. of Atlanta. Earlier in May, American Mobile also terminated similar discussions with Transit Communications Corp., also based in Atlanta.
American Mobile said it was continuing to hold talks with Fleet Call Inc. in Rutherford, N.J. In March, American Mobile said there was a tentative agreement for Transit to buy at least 7.14 million shares of American Mobile stock for $7 per share in cash and Florida mobile radio properties, or a total of $50 million.
