LOS ANGELES : Pisano Named New USC Vice President

Jane G. Pisano, dean of USC’s School of Public Administration since 1991, will also assume the duties of vice president for external relations starting Jan. 1, USC President Steven B. Sample said Tuesday.

A former White House Fellow and faculty member at Georgetown University, Pisano, 49, has been active in Los Angeles civic affairs since the late 1970s. She has served as executive director of the Los Angeles 200 Committee, which organized the yearlong 200th birthday celebration for the city in 1981; president of LA 2000, a group that wrote a strategic plan in demography and planning for Los Angeles, and president of the 2000 Partnership, which worked to implement those recommendations.

Pisano also will coordinate USC’s offices of governmental, public and community relations.

Pisano earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Stanford in 1966, before obtaining her master’s in 1969 and Ph.D. in 1973 in international relations from Johns Hopkins University.
