Limited Release of Lou Gehrig’s Drug OKd: Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Inc. said Thursday that it has gained Food and Drug Administration approval for limited distribution of a drug to fight Lou Gehrig’s disease, ahead of the drug’s final regulatory approval. The company said it will provide its experimental compound Rilutek free of charge starting in July to 1,000 patients with the deadly degenerative neuromuscular disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
