COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Jordan Gives His Record Unenthusiastic Reception

With his third catch against Washington State, a 10-yard pass from Cade McNown in the third quarter, Kevin Jordan broke J.J. Stokes’ school record for receptions.
But with UCLA trailing at the time, 24-5, Jordan was in no mood to celebrate.
“It probably would feel more special had we won the game,” said Jordan, who finished with seven catches Saturday to run his total to 159.
“It’s probably a big accomplishment in a lot of people’s eyes, but right now it really hasn’t really sunk in. . . . It’s not like I hit the lottery or something, know what I mean?”

Injury report: Coach Terry Donahue fears nose tackle Travis Kirschke may be lost for several weeks because of a severe ankle sprain suffered Saturday.

Freshman punter Chris Sailer’s 81-yard punt against Washington State was one for the record books. Unfortunately, not the Bruin record book. The school reports it is at least the longest since it began charting long punts in 1969, but in 1944, Bob Waterfield recorded a 91-yarder against March Air Force Base.
