Stretch of California 150 to Reopen at Last

After being closed by severe weather damage for more than a year, California 150 between Ojai and Carpinteria will be opened by the end of next week.
At a town hall meeting late Thursday, California Department of Transportation officials, Sen. Jack O’Connell (D-San Luis Obispo) and Assemblyman Brooks Firestone (R-Los Olivos) explained why the highway had been closed for so long.
Repair crews were confronted with a variety of obstacles over the past 12 months, including bad weather and an underground water main that had to be relocated, Caltrans officials said.
California 150 is the Ojai Valley’s most direct link to Carpinteria and Santa Barbara.
O’Connell said the highway will be opened to through traffic Thursday. But it will not be repaved and striped until mid-February.
“The only caveat would be the weather between now and then,” O’Connell said.
