Leslie’s Poolmart Reports Increased Loss for Quarter

Leslie’s Poolmart saw its loss widen in the fourth quarter while its net income for all of 1995 fell 26% compared to 1994.
The Chatsworth-based retailer of swimming pool supplies posted a $3.69-million loss in the fourth quarter, compared to a loss of $2.36 million in the same period a year earlier. Sales in the latest quarter rose 15% to $18.3 million, up from $15.9 million.
For all of last year, Leslie’s posted a $3.41-million profit, down from $4.58 million in 1994. Sales last year increased 15% to $162.5 million, up from $141.5 million in 1994.
The company operates 230 stores in 27 states, plus a nationwide mail-order catalog.
