Bloomingdale’s Names California Chief: The department store chain has appointed Michael Lindblad, a former Robinsons department store executive, to oversee the management of the five California stores it plans to open. As regional vice president of stores, Lindblad will be responsible for merchandising and store operations. The company earlier this year announced it would enter the California market with stores in Century City Center and the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, at Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, at Fashion Island in Newport Beach and at one location in Palo Alto. Previously, Lindblad was regional vice president at Robinsons, which was renamed Robinsons-May when it was merged with May Co. in 1993.
