Lt. Gen. Claudius Watts, the embattled president of The Citadel military academy, announced his resignation after seven years in charge. Watts, who steered the all-male, state-funded school in Charleston. S.C., through a highly publicized sexual-discrimination lawsuit, said he will leave Aug. 31 to spend more time with his family.
