So, Major League Soccer’s time has arrived, (“For Soccer Aficionados, the Honeymoon Begins,” April 6). Well, OK. I’ll cross my fingers. I well remember how upbeat the U.S. Soccer Football Assn. was when it was announced that soccer was “enjoying a postwar boom and heading for its greatest year in history,” according to a 1946 story in Stars and Stripes.
