Disney Plans Seem Like Virtual Reality

Let me see if I have the facts straight (“New Disney Theme Park to Pay Homage to Hollywood,” June 12). First, Disney was going to build a combination shopping mall/entertainment center in Burbank but dumped that idea in favor of “DisneySea,” a new resort next to the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Years later, it announced that a new theme park would either be built in Anaheim or Long Beach, but not both, which many people speculated was an attempt to get the most concessions out of both municipalities. Eventually, Anaheim was chosen, and a new resort was planned, which included “Westcott,” a world’s fair-type park with hotels and shopping areas. But that was dumped because it was too expensive, so now a Hollywood and seaside-type attraction is being planned, despite the distance from both.
I can hardly wait for the next incarnation from the masters of the virtual theme park business.
