Members of the city’s Boys & Girls Clubs will receive bicycles this summer as part of a nationwide program.
Through Aug. 15, Saturn car retailers will collect bikes that are in good condition. The two-wheelers will be refurbished by local bike shop owners and delivered to club members.
Club executive director Tanya Grimes said that for many of the members, the nationwide program “affords them the opportunity to realize the dream of every child: to ride their very own bike.”
More than 30,000 youths in clubs across the nation will receive the recycled bikes under the program, which is sponsored by Saturn and Sports Illustrated magazine.
