Reseda High School is seeking a team to participate in its girls’ basketball summer league, which is scheduled to run June 28-July 28.

BASEBALL
* Chris Zavatsky, an assistant coach at College of the Canyons, has been selected to replace Denny Barrett as coach at Glendale College.
Zavatsky, 32, was a pitcher at Alemany High and USC. He has served as pitching coach at Canyons for the last seven years and played on Canyons’ 1986 state championship team.
* Tom Morefield, former All-City outfielder at Chatsworth High, is transferring from Cal State Northridge to Valley College.
* Brian Somoza of El Camino Real, All-West Valley League first baseman, has signed with Iowa State.
* Scott Sellz, All-West Valley League pitcher for Chatsworth, has signed with Cal State Northridge.
* Nick Gontmaher, All-Western State Conference center fielder from Ventura College, has committed to University of San Diego.
* The major league scouting bureau will hold an open tryout camp for players 16-25 at Thousand Oaks High on Tuesday at 10 a.m. American Legion players must bring a letter of approval from their coach or commander.

* Hart High is close to naming a replacement for Bud Murray. The finalists are Jim Ozella, former Alemany coach; Tim O’Brien, a Hart assistant; Casey Burrill, a Valencia assistant who played for Hart and USC; and Pete Calzia, former Hart junior varsity coach.
SOCCER
* Mike Preis, a senior forward at Cal State Northridge, has been named to the U.S. men’s team for the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, on July 23-Aug. 8.
Preis, from Chatsworth High, twice played this year for the U.S. under-23 national team.
FOOTBALL
* Garrett Lepisto, All-Ventura County wide receiver at Agoura High, will walk on at UCLA. Lepisto’s father, Vic, played football at UCLA from 1963-67.
Jose Cortez, former Van Nuys High and Oregon State kicker, has signed a free-agent contract with the San Diego Chargers.
AUTO RACING
* Troy Rutherford of Ojai finished third in the Sprint Car Racing Assn. 30-lap main event Saturday night at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz.
