Residents in the Old Town West area successfully petitioned city officials to begin permit-only parking in their neighborhood. Signs, permits and other accouterments should be ready in about three weeks, city officials said. Before then, informational fliers and maps will be handed out to residents and members of the Cottonwood Christian Center on Sausalito Street. The City Council unanimously endorsed the idea Monday after neighbors complained that they had to fight church members for scarce parking spaces. Church leaders said they know they have outgrown their building and are looking for a new home. Permit-only parking generally will be in effect on Catalina, Florista and Sausalito streets, although the exact map has yet to be made official. Some streets will require permits only on Sundays and others only from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Police Department will distribute fliers and permits in a few weeks, the city clerk’s office said.
