The San Francisco Giants plan to extend the contract of Manager Dusty Baker beyond the 2000 season, the team’s executive vice president said.
Baker, 50, has one season remaining on his current $700,000-a-year agreement.
“We’re happy with his performance,” said Executive Vice President Larry Baer, who also is the team’s chief operating officer. “I wouldn’t put a timetable on it, but he’s obviously a valuable part of the franchise.”
