Saddleback 26, Mt. San Antonio 23--Chad Harris intercepted two passes, returning one 41 yards for the winning touchdown in the third quarter for visiting Saddleback, which won in Coach Mark McElroy’s debut. Gaucho quarterback Adam Hoover completed six of eight passes, and Chris Weinrauch had two receptions for 71 yards.
El Camino 35, Golden West 14--Golden West scored first after recovering a bad snap on a punt attempt at the Warrior 16. Two plays later Damien Cook scored on a one-yard run.
El Camino (1-0) then scored on four of its next five possessions to take a 28-7 halftime lead.
Golden West (0-1) closed out the scoring when offensive lineman Keith Townsend fell on a fumble in the end zone.
Rustler quarterback J.D. Stern finished 17 of 35 for 166 yards with two interceptions.
Pasadena 41, Santa Ana 21--Blair Lewis and Andre Ward led Pasadena (1-0) in the first game in Pasadena’s new stadium. Lewis carried the ball nine times for 164 yards and scored three touchdowns. Ward rushed for 146 yards in 11 carries.
Grant Wagner completed 17 of 30 passes for 186 yards with one interception for Santa Ana (0-1). Wagner also had a one-yard touchdown run. Cameron King had 144 yards in 30 carries for Santa Ana.
