Of Quartz Hill’s five nonleague games, four are against Foothill League schools.
The Rebels (2-1), who have lost to Hart and defeated Canyon, meet Saugus on Friday night at College of the Canyons and play Valencia next week at Canyon High.
“We may be the only team in the area to be in two leagues,” joked Coach Pat Degnan, whose team plays in the Golden League. “Maybe [the Foothill League] will invite us to their all-league meeting.”
Versatile junior running back Derrick Teal has played a major role in Quartz Hill’s strong start.
He has rushed for 477 yards and six touchdowns, passed for another score and returned two blocked punts for touchdowns.
