HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK

Simi Valley receiver and running back Calvin Bell is expected to play Friday in a Marmonte League opener against Moorpark.

Bell, who strained a thigh while punting during practice last week, did not play in a 48-6 loss to Crescenta Valley.

“We kept him out for league,” Simi Valley Coach Ron Veres said. “We’ve got to take care of him.”
