“Speed Limits,” your Dec. 18 letter about the fools on the road, is right on the money. I was driving to San Diego with friends in the carpool lane doing slightly more than 70 mph. Not only was I tailgated but I was also told to move out of the lane by the gestures of motorists who were illegally passing on the shoulder! Since when is the carpool lane the autobahn?
