“There’s Still Magic in Disney’s Words” (July 5), regarding the new publication of Walt Disney’s homilies on life and business, has me wondering: Do you suppose, if Walt were still running the show, that he would have sanctioned the brutal layoff of 4,000 employees as current chief Michael Eisner did?
The article suggests that business types are increasingly turning to the old man for wisdom, but whether they absorb the lessons or simply chuckle at the wit is the real test of intelligence and savvy. If this is indeed the case, then one would hope Eisner not only brushes up on his reading but takes the message to heart as well.
