Grand Jury to Probe Cincinnati Shooting
A grand jury will convene to investigate the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man that led to three nights of rioting in Cincinnati, city officials said.
Timothy Thomas, 19, who authorities said ran from police, was shot by a white officer April 7. The shooting led to the worst racial unrest in the city since the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 in Memphis, Tenn. Dozens of people were injured and more than 800 were arrested.
Black activists and residents have said they want a speedy decision on whether the officer will be punished for shooting Thomas.
