Concern for Horses

Re the Sept. 25 photo of a horse race at the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona with billowing smoke from the fire in the Angeles National Forest:
Though health advisories are issued for humans, it’s OK for horses to race in the smoke, filling their huge lungs with toxins and damaging their sensitive nostrils with every heaving breath? I don’t get it.
Oh! I forgot ... humans gamble on horse races. Horse racing is a business. Who cares about those stupid animals?
