LAPD Settles in Police Shooting

The City Council approved a $225,000 settlement Tuesday with the sister of a man killed by an LAPD officer during a Halloween costume party in Benedict Canyon.
Anthony Dwain Lee was shot four times after he pointed a fake gun at two police officers investigating a noise complaint in 2000. His sister, Tina Lee-Vogt, filed a claim against the city seeking $100 million.
Last year, the Los Angeles district attorney’s office declined to prosecute the officer who shot Lee, saying he had acted in self-defense.
