Suspect Reportedly Seen at Victims’ Home

The only suspect in the killings of five members of his estranged family briefly visited the household the day before they were last seen alive, the Bakersfield Californian reported Saturday.
Two neighbors, who were former students of Vice Principal Vincent Brothers, told the newspaper they saw him enter and exit the Harper household sometime after 1 a.m. July 5.
The account by Roosevelt Richardson, 24, and Calvin Calloway, 25, immediately was disputed by a lawyer helping Brothers’ attorney.
The victims, all shot to death, were: Brothers’ mother-in-law, Earnestine Harper, 70; his 39-year-old wife, Joanie Harper; and their children, Marques, 4; Lyndsey, 2; and Marshall, 6 weeks. Their bodies were found in their home about 7 a.m. July 8, police said. They were last seen the morning of July 6 at East Bakersfield Church of Christ.
