Kevin Costner has had his ups and downs, more recently the latter, but in “The Upside of Anger” he’s attracting positive attention as a disillusioned former baseball star who puts the moves on Joan Allen after her husband mysteriously splits. Herewith, the six top-grossing Costner movies and a half-dozen from the opposite end of the spectrum. We considered only films in which the athletic Costner was the lead or a principal character. As it happens, the top (and bottom) six have nothing to do with baseball, which figured prominently in “Field of Dreams” and “Bull Durham,” No. 7 and No. 12 on the list of the actor’s best dozen box-office performances.
