Baylor’s Rally Stuns Texas Tech, 58-57

Chelsea Whitaker’s layup with 2.1 seconds to play lifted No. 6 Baylor over No. 14 Texas Tech, 58-57, Thursday night in the semifinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament at Kansas City, Mo.
After Alesha Robertson gave the Red Raiders a 57-53 lead with just over a minute remaining, Steffanie Blackmon made a free throw and then followed a miss with a basket off a rebound to make it 57-56 with 16.5 seconds to play.
A foul sent Texas Tech’s Darrice Griffin to the line, but she missed the front end of a one-and-one and Baylor got the rebound. After calling a timeout, Whitaker got the inbounds pass and slashed through the lane for the winning basket.
Sophia Young had 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead Baylor (26-3), which will play Kansas State in Saturday night’s championship game.
Latoya Davis scored 18 points for Texas Tech (22-7).
No. 17 Kansas State 72, No. 11 Texas 69 -- Twiggy McIntyre scored a career-high 19 points and the Wildcats (23-6) held off the Longhorns (21-8) to advance to the Big 12 tournament championship game. Kansas State rallied from a 65-58 deficit with 4:02 to play.
