Board Tells Romer to Find Budget Solutions

The Los Angeles Unified school board on Tuesday ordered Supt. Roy Romer to find solutions to the district’s chronic budget deficit.
In a unanimous vote, the seven-member board instructed Romer to present potential remedies in November for the district’s estimated $500-million structural deficit, which largely stems from the increasing costs of healthcare, maintenance and workers’ compensation.
