One youth was killed and two other people -- an 18-year-old student driver and her instructor -- were injured Tuesday evening in a traffic collision related to street racing, police said.
A 17-year-old boy in one of the racing cars died after the red Honda Civic he was driving collided with a driving school-owned Toyota Corolla about 8:45 p.m. on Vanowen Street near Platt Avenue in Woodland Hills, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The student driver of the Toyota and her female instructor were both taken to a hospital, said LAPD Officer Mike Lopez. He said their injuries did not appear life-threatening.
None of the victims was identified.
Lopez said the driver of the Honda was racing another car eastbound on Vanowen when he lost control and veered into the Toyota.
