Two bodies -- and possibly a third -- were found Monday afternoon in a burning SUV in a residential neighborhood in Orange, police said.
Firefighters received a report of a vehicle fire in the 500 block of East Oakmont Avenue at 2:18 p.m., Orange police Lt. Fred Lopez said. As firefighters doused the flames, they found two bodies, and possibly a third, inside the black SUV, he said.

Because the bodies were so badly burned, it is unclear whether there was a third victim, he said.
Lopez said the discovery was “disturbing.”
Investigators don’t know how the fire started, but they plan to go door-to-door and interview residents in the neighborhood, he said. Police will also look for any surveillance video footage in the area.
Authorities are looking to identify the victims and determine who owned the vehicle.
“We’ll start by putting the pieces of the puzzle together,” Lopez said.
