Basketball: Sierra Canyon wins Gold Coast League regular season title

Chatsworth Sierra Canyon wrapped up the No. 1 seed for the Gold Coast League tournament that begins on Saturday, rallying for a 64-52 win over Windward on Thursday night at Windward.
Adam Seiko scored 15 points, Remy Martin 14 and Devearl Ramsey 10. Windward will have the No. 3 seed. Freshman Jules Bernard had 19 points for Windward.
Brentwood claimed the No. 2 seed with a 58-33 win over McAuliffe. Maxwell Kupchak scored 22 points.
Christian Juzang made a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Viewpoint a 51-48 win over Paraclete. Miye Onie had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Juzang added 15 points. Campbell Hall defeated Crossroads, 73-42. Aaron Holiday had 23 points and Jordan Cohen 12.
The eight teams begin action on Saturday, with semifinals on Tuesday and the championship game on Thursday at Viewpoint.
The schedule: No. 8 McAuliffe at No. 1 Sierra Canyon; No. 7 Paraclete at No. 2 Brentwood; No. 6 Crossroads at No. 3 Windward; No. 5 Viewpoint at No. 4 Campbell Hall.
Sierra Canyon plays in a nonleague game on Friday against Viriginia Oak Hill in the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei.
Buckley defeated Providence, 54-32, with Austin Butler scoring 18 points and getting 12 rebounds. Brendon Ferguson added 18 points and 10 rebounds.
In two important girls’ basketball games, Alemany knocked off Chaminade, 59-54, in the Mission League. Sierra Canyon defeated Windward, 55-44, in the Gold Coast League. Windward’s Emily Surloff had 18 points.
