Barry Stavro ranks the 30 teams. Last week’s ranking in parentheses, statistics are through Friday’s games:
1. GOLDEN STATE: Warriors keep rolling, their 24-2 record at home is the best in the league. (1)
2. MEMPHIS: Mike Conley, never an All-Star, is the one who keeps the Grizzlies’ offense humming. (3)
3. TORONTO: When DeMar DeRozan plays, the Raptors’ record is 25-8, when he sits, only 12-9. (7)
4. ATLANTA: Losing by 25 points at home to Toronto after the All-Star break is a worrisome sign. (2)
5. CLEVELAND: A 38-point rout in Washington was another statement game. Cavaliers are 15-2 since Jan. 13. (5)
6. CLIPPERS: DeAndre Jordan’s big month: averaging 17.0 points, 16.6 rebounds and 7.1 free-throw misses. (10)
7. PORTLAND: LaMarcus Aldridge’s numbers haven’t dipped any since he skipped thumb surgery to keep playing. (9)
8. HOUSTON: Since Dwight Howard went down with a knee injury, Rockets are limping at 6-4. (6)
9. CHICAGO: Bulls are inconsistent, Pau Gasol isn’t. He leads NBA with 35 double-doubles. (4)
10. SAN ANTONIO: After dropping back-to-backs to Clippers and Warriors, Gregg Popovich’s team is 18-16 vs. the West. (8)
11. DALLAS: Is Mark Cuban having second thoughts about Rajon Rondo? Mavericks are only 14-9 when he plays. (11)
12. WASHINGTON: Maybe it’s the gloomy winter. Wizards are in a slide, having lost seven of nine. (12)
13. OKLAHOMA CITY: Bench was upgraded at trade deadline, but Kevin Durant sits out another game with a sore foot. (14)
14. MILWAUKEE: New point guard Michael Carter-Williams should thrive under coach and ex-PG Jason Kidd. (13)
15. PHOENIX: Traded two guards and got a new one (Brandon Knight), leaving a coaching challenge for Jeff Hornacek. (15)
16. NEW ORLEANS: Anthony Davis returned to the lineup Friday, but their playoff hopes keep fading. (16)
17. MIAMI: Landing Goran Dragic will help, but losing Chris Bosh for the season won’t. (19)
18. CHARLOTTE: Their best player, Kemba Walker, might be out three weeks with a knee injury. (17)
19. DETROIT: Pistons started 3-19. Coach/GM Stan Van Gundy shuffled his roster and lineup — team is 19-14 since then. (21)
20. BROOKLYN: Deron Williams’ double-double Friday against the Lakers was his first in two months. (20)
21. BOSTON: Adding Isaiah Thomas to the backcourt will take pressure off rookie PG Marcus Smart. (18)
22. INDIANA: Larry Bird keeps talking about winning games, tanking be damned. (22)
23. ORLANDO: Signs of a pulse? Magic 3-2 since naming James Borrego interim coach. (25)
24. UTAH: Gave up on big man Enes Kanter, No. 3 overall pick in 2011. Betting on the lottery, once again. (23)
26. SACRAMENTO: Kings haven’t made the playoffs since 2006. New Coach George Karl hopes to fix that, eventually. (26)
25. DENVER: Brian Shaw and his Nuggets are headed to their worst season since 2002-03. (24)
27. LAKERS: For Lakers fans, every loss puts them closer to landing Duke’s Jahlil Okafor. (27)
28. MINNESOTA: Can Kevin Garnett tutor his pupils on home cooking? Timberwolves a league-worst 7-21 at home. (28)
29. PHILADELPHIA: Skidmarks in four directions. Unloaded Michael Carter-Williams, picked up JaVale McGee. (29)
30. NEW YORK: Knicks and Phil Jackson are cruising to the worst win-percentage season in franchise history. (30)
